21 lande!

Begin / Start: Langenselbold, Duitsland/Germany
Bestemming / Destination: Bad Ragaz, Switzerland
Afstand / Distance: 543 km

Hy (Dit?) was in sy 21ste land.

My ligte verkoue van gister is vandag ‘n volbloed ene.

Hul dienslewering kry by my ‘n 2 uit 10.

Today was a very special day for the KLR. It crossed the border into the 21st country since I bought it in 2007. The last three countries to get to the 21 were France, Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, through which I travelled today.

I enjoyed the riding of today. I went off the Autobahn quite often and travelled on typical country roads. It brought the average speeds down, but who cares? I reached Bad Ragaz at 18:30, frozen to the core. My light cold of yesterday is a full-blown cold today.

Late afternoon I saw the Alps for the first time. There is still a lot of snow on the peaks. On seeing the snow the air suddenly felt chilly. Whether that was only my imagination?

The service delivery of the Swiss in the tourism branch is of the worst I’ve ever experienced. I know there are people that will differ. These ladies and gents here in Switzerland need a new handbook on
customer care, or they could go and learn from the hotel
in Kenhardt in South Africa. Should their Alps disappear overnight so will the tourists.

Tomorrow I plan to ride across the Bernardino pass, that should be exciting!

Groete vanuit ‘n heerlike Naboom!!! Mooi ry! Hoop Engeltjie hou ‘n ogie oor jou….
