Wad Medani, Soedan

(English below)

Ek he die hitte vrygespring.

Hiedie gaan my laaste internet vir ‘n ruk wees.

Groete!

English

I left Khartoum early to miss the heat and with sand and dust. I did miss the heat. It is now only 39 degrees, cool weather after the previous weeks. But I didn’t miss the wind with sand and dust. After a while my neck started aching due to the side pressure of the wind from the right. And the waves of sand and dust that came rolling over the desert plains and across the road. The poor KLR.

I am in Wad Medani, a town on the banks of the Blue Nile. Just opposite my accommodation is a local restaurant with fresh pizza! What a pleasure. Here is a lot of green, a green island surrounded by the colourless desert. (I doubt whether anything can be colourless)

This will be my last post for nearly a week. From now on internet will not be readily available. If everything goes well we’ll speak again when I am in Ethiopia.

To all our South Africans back home, enjoy the football!! I am so proud of what we have achieved with the World Cup, especially when I think how many foreigners told me in the past that one only had to wait and see if everything would go ok. We proved them wrong! So, treasure the moment, we won’t have it again.

Go well!
