Arusha, Tanzanië

Goeie naand!

Selfs nie my selfoon werk vanaand nie.

Lekker aand!

Good evening!

I arrived in Arusha, Tanzania, late afternoon, dust-covered. It was the day with the most dust since the beginning of the tour. Before I can ride tomorrow I first have to clean the air filter of the bike.

I am tired tonight. As soon as I have completed the blog update I am off to bed.

Unfortunately the summits of Kilimanjaro and Mt Meroe were covered by clouds today.

It was a cool day and the wind is still blowing like our August winds in South Africa. For long periods today the wind blew directly with the road. All the dust of the big trucks and busses was hanging over the track. One hadn’t had any other choice than riding through the sand-filled air. With the small video camera mounted on the handle bar I managed to film some of those dusty moments.

I had a big fright today. I was on a good piece of dirt road doing 80 when suddenly the road became muddy. First the KLR kept its line but then slowly started sliding while I decelerated. Fortunately I managed to stay on the bike.

And now I am off to bed. Not even my cell phone is working now.

Have a good evening!
