Good evening from Pretoria!
This is now my last post for quite a while.
On Monday I underwent some further examinations in theatre. Today I was briefed by the surgeon on the outcome of the tests and what the procedure will be, as well as the risks.
The surgeon who will perform the operation, is one of the best. It is such a rare tumor that it is only the fourth time in his life that he encounters one. The size of the other three that he removed was like a thumb nail. The tumor in my heart is 4 cm x 4.5 cm.
The risks are numerous, including cutting away so much heart tissue that the heart valve needs to be replaced. I felt sick on leaving his room.
Tomorrow 14:00 I am back at Die Wilgers hospital, and on Thursday early my longest day starts.
Thanks to all the people who commented on the blog. Even if I do not reply please know that I read and appreciate every word. A special word of thanks to Lita Buckley who drove me from my sister’s place to the hospital and back today. Your presence was calming.
Everything will be OK at the end. If it is not OK then it is not the end.
